Pioneer 1905 Cookbook's a Blue Ribbon Winner

Launched at the OKC Winter Quilt Show January 13-15, "1905 Cookbook--Food for Body and Soul" broke all expectations and sales records. It's proving to be the perfect gift to add to cookbook collections. Even men were purchasing the cookbooks to try some of the pioneer recipes, like how to make potato stuffing for your duck or goose.

The big question was, what is sponge, an ingredient called for in some recipes? We discovered that sponge is the hottest rage in bread-making. You mix flour, water and sugar to make your own yeast from scratch--the healthiest way.

The latest trend in cooking is returning to using fresh, unadulterated produce and meat and dairy and cooking like our pioneer foremothers did--from scratch--no preservatives and additives.

See http://www.heavenlypatchwork.com/ to order for your gift giving and feed starving children and provide clean water with the profits.

Pioneer 1905 Cookbook Hot Out of Oven

Pioneer Cookbook Profits Feed Starving Children

More than simply a cookbook, 1905 Cookbook—Food for Body and Soul combines unpretentious, delectable recipes with a glimpse into the lives of those courageous pioneer women who left family, friends and the comforts of first homes to homestead a hostile and barren landscape before Oklahoma became a state.
Illustrated with vintage photos and 1905 advertising of local merchants offering everything from cook stoves promising to bake perfect biscuits in three minuts to buggies, harnesses to artificial eyes, this captivating collection contains more than three hundred recipes. A sampling of the favorites includes salt rising bread, rusks made with 2 teacupsful of sponge, corn fritters, graham gems, ginger tea cakes, Oklahoma’s Delight, hot slaw, potato stuffing for goose or duck, cream sweet breads, snow eggs and suet pudding.

These recipes with cameos of the individual contributors transport you back into the hearts and lives of everyday pioneer heroines through our universal passion for food, family and community fellowship. Each brave contributor leaves behind a legacy of love and darned good home cooking for today’s hungry “pioneers.”

All book profits go to feed starving children.
